Please help me to get through the next 6 weeks of chemo without having to worry about money to pay for living costs.
Canterbury
Prior to being diagnosed with testicular cancer I was a 17 year old working full time doing furniture removal on a casual contract. I was lying in bed one day and noticed a lump in my scrotum. Due to embarrassment I did not tell anyone about this for about a month until I knew it was definitely getting bigger, and then my girlfriend made me go to the GP. Within a week I had had surgery to remove the tumor and was living with the knowledge that I had testicular cancer.
Thankfully my sick leave entitlements and savings got me through my surgery and I returned to work with the aim of moving on. However my cancer team have now told me that I need 9 weeks of intense chemotherapy to ensure that the cancer does not come back. They have said that I will be too unwell to work during this time.
Please help me to get through the next 6 weeks without having to worry about where I am going to get the money to cover my rent, food and living expenses. Unfortunately I am too young to get a sickness benefit for the time of my treatment.
I look forward to getting back to work and putting all this behind me. Thank you so much for your help and donations!
