Rotary Club of Kapiti's involvement (page creator)
Rotary Club of Kapiti became a sister club of Rotaract Club of Yala, Kathmandhu when hosting one of their exchange students, Nirjan Shakya in 2004. Nirjan has gone on to become an active Rotaract and community leader who has led targeted rescue and relief efforts to villages and people of Kathmandu who have not had the benefit of any government or NGO aide. Kapiti Rotary is collecting, administering and remitting donations in aggregate from New Zealanders to the Rotaract Club of Yala so that Nirjan and his fellow Rotaractarians can purchase the appropriate supplies and services that will provide the greatest benefit to victims
Rotary Club of Kapiti is a vibrant and progressive club of business and community leaders who want to make a difference for their local and worldwide community.
The club is part of New Zealand's District 9940 and one of 34,000 internationally comprising 1.2 million like minded men and women of various ethnicities and cultures.
Rotarians have one thing in common-"Service Above Self". They demonstrate this by
-undertaking civil projects and fund raising
-supporting youth through mentoring and scholarships to create opportunities for fulfilment and future leaders
-promoting good ethics and pride in workmanship to local businesses and their employees
-promoting world peace and understanding through scholarships and exchanges
-assisting local and international causes such as the eradication of polio and disaster relief
