My younger brother Raam from India wants to pursue his undergraduate degree in Engineering at University of Canterbury desperately.

In Need Talented Kids

Raam has completed his first (intermediate) year of engineering studies back home in India, achieving good academic results. He now has an offer of enrollment to pursue the advanced years of his Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Canterbury, specializing in Mechatronics Engineering. He is a hardworking, talented individual both in academics and sports. His greatest sporting talents are in cricket and badminton and he is keen to join the grass roots cricket community in New Zealand.

I am Raam's older brother and have been pursuing my PhD in Mechanical Engineering and I am currently in my Final Year. I am truly blessed to have got this opportunity to pursue research on a scholarship in this amazing land. I am impressed with the teaching facilities here, which are quite different and more advanced than those available back home. However, I am struggling with certain aspects because of the change in education style after moving here, and hence would like to have my younger brother exposed to this environment right from his undergraduate days. This will make his fundamentals strong, helping him professionally in the long run and also helping him to serve the community in a better way. Also, I see more academic value in the degree here which will provide him world class opportunities, compared to India.

I have been trying to get him over to NZ since 2014 and nothing has worked out in our favor. As the international fee is 40,000 NZD per year it is hard for our family to fully fund his entire degree. We were also not lucky enough to get any of the highly competitive international undergraduate scholarships from the university.

I have started this fundraising page to cover Raam's tuition fee and help his career growth. It would be fantastic if you could be part of this life-changing experience. Any help is greatly appreciated. The way I see it is, when we reach better positions in life, one day, me and my brother will be in a position to sponsor another ambitious child's education who is desperately wanting to pursue his or her dreams. Every small donation will help. Even if you can’t donate, we encourage you to share this campaign with friends and colleagues. Many Thanks!
