Please Help Rachel and Oceanswatch

Marine conservation and community projects throughout south east asia and the south Pacific.

Sailing Vessel Westward departs Davao in the Philippines around June 20 and will head to New Zealand (ETA November) via Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. There will be a very short marine program in PNG and a Virgin Coconut Oil program in Ontong Java, Solomon Islands followed by some more yet to be confirmed work in the Temotu Province of the Solomon Islands. After that it's a stop in Vanuatu before the sail to NZ. Crew need to cover their own flights and contribute the volunteer contribution of NZ$200pw towards expenses when you are doing the OceansWatch work. The rest of the time, I.E. the actual sailing time and a couple of days in each port all on board expenses are covered. I Rachel as crew would need to fundraise enough money to be part of this trip.

I have experience on the ocean and have been sailing for years. I very passionate about marine conservation and I have been ask to crew and be apart of this Oceanswatch trip.

This would be a dream come true for me. what I lack in Funds I make up for in Experience passion and Commitment. This opportunity has come up very suddenly and it has been suggested I try Givealittle to make that happen.

I wouldn't usually ask for help but i feel this is a great cause and wonderful opportunity.

UPDATE: Thank you so much for your support and donations! In 24hours we togetheir have raised $820 ($100 of which was donated directly to me by a good & generous friend). The money raised will go to OceansWatch and will be used wisely. To feed the crew, to provide goods, materials and services to the people of the islands between Philippines and New Zealand. Over 5months we will be helping set up and checking the progress of programs such as the Virgin Coconut Oil program (VCO), a well as marine conservation and other projects. OceansWatch is a registered New Zealand charity and in the past has done amazing work and continues to do so, against all odds. I am grateful that I have been given the opportunity to be a part of this awesome work. I am also very humbled and grateful to have you all on board (so to speak) Please continue to share and follow our progress! Thanks
