  • First They Killed My Father

      23 February 2017

This project is about supporting the very survivors of this tragic event. Over 85% of the families living in Phsar Trach are survivors of the killing fields. For this reason the project goes beyond supporting the children (who may not experience the war but will live and breath their families tragic history) but the survivors who are still endure the painful memory of the killing fields.

I am one of them and I am here to make a difference. Thank you to all who have supported this project so far.

    Check out the movie trailer!

  • Community Garden

      23 February 2017

The community of Phsar Trach is planning to establish a 'community garden' to encourage wider community involvement as well as to take care of the land. Work will involve clearing of shrubs, stabilizing the land and to create clear boundary of the area purchased. Some of the funds donated so far will help to build fences as the key priority.

The community wishes to start to thinking of what might be needed for the 'community garden' some ideas include:

    - Fruits that will help to stabilize the land i.e. mango, dates, limes, coconuts etc.

    - Vegetables that are well suited to land and will be well used by the community.

    - Facilities such as seats and fitness/play equipment etc to provide 'play, relax, camp, garden' like environment. Equipment will be engraved to reflect the sponsor and donor.

    - Turning the wet land into a fish pond (the community to look after and use it as a source of employment 'sell the fish and feed the community').

A professional architecture has been sought in NZ to help with getting the overall design plan to determine what facilities might be needed - excited to see what might be possible!
