I am a 30yr old bmx racer from Dunedin New Zealand, I have been involved in the sport for 20yrs now. I am the current NZ and South Island champ in my 20inch class and current South Island champ in my cruiser (24inch) class. After achieving the NZ1 title in my 20inch class for the last 2 years I have decided to take it one step further and head to World Champs in Rock Hill, SC, USA.
I decided to take up riding the cruiser class when we decided to go to Worlds, since we are going all that way I might as well make the most of it. But this also means another trip up north to Te Awamutu to qualify for cruiser at Nationals.
So my use of funds will be allocated to Nationals and Worlds travel cost which include but not limited to:
Nationals:
Flights - $322
Accommodation - $300
Rental Car - $213.61
Entry Fee - $180
Worlds:
Flights: $1934
Rental Car - $500
Entry Fee - $200
Racing Tops - $300
Travel/Racing Insurance - $400
National Champs Results 19 April 2017
So with the amalgamated class in my 20inch being 17-39 female it was pretty stiff competition. Unfortunately I lost my NZ1 title to the girls about 10yrs younger than me and finished in 17th place.
My cruiser class went a lot better with the class being 30-39 female and I finished the day getting NZ2 which I was quite happy with.
Now with 12 weeks to go until World's I'll be getting into my training program after a weeks rest.
