Four and a half years after a devastating aneurysm, Billie Murray is on the slow road to recovery. Please consider helping her get there.
Bay of Plenty
On the night of November 7th, 2011,after watching her son be awarded Dux of Katikati College, Billie Murray suffered an aneurysm and was rushed to hospital where she would spend months in an induced coma.
Four and a half years later, and despite all odds, Billie is alive and living at home with her husband Brett and beautiful daughter Kyra. She is still wheelchair-bound, she still struggles with her speech and the movement on the right side of her body, but she is able to live amongst her family and live as normal a life as is possible. In terms of her health, she has beaten the odds and while the road ahead is long and rocky, we all have full faith that she will make it.
However, the financial strain of the last four and a half years has been immense. Brett has been Billie's full time carer since the first day she returned home, and no doubt having him around to love and support her through her recovery has been immeasurably beneficial. This has come at the sacrifice of Brett not being able to work the amount that he previously did, and the financial situation of the Murray family has become dire. Currently Billie receives one small benefit which does not even cover the cost of rent, let alone the other expenses involved in living and raising a wonderful nine-year old girl who Billie and Brett want to have a happy and memorable childhood. The specifics of the Murray's finances are both boring and unnecessary, but suffice to say that the debt is approaching critical levels and their day-to-day living is becoming near impossible.
I am Jordan Murray, son of Brett and Billie. We have been blessed and lucky to have so much support throughout this incredibly trying time, and do not expect large donations or a one-step solution to our problems. Any help, no matter how large or small, is wholeheartedly appreciated and will provide perhaps more than you could imagine.
Thank you in advance, from me and from all of the Murray family.
Those of you who know Billie know she would insist on me finishing this message with her signature farewell,
Peace and mungbeans everyone.
My mother is the single strongest and most resilient person I have ever met, and I want the best for her and for my family.
