Shipwreck Herne Bay Auckland

I lived on and owned Astrid, a 14.4 metre motor cruiser sailboat for over 15 years. She was all I had left and she was, like all ferros, uninsured for full cover when the mooring line broke in storm conditions around 2am Friday August 27. Her last voyage was a solo voyage to nearby rocks at Masefield Reserve where she struck the the rocks on the very high tide and was holed.

She lies on the beach today damaged and requiring significant effort to deal with it being on the beach, a cost I cannot shoulder.

Funding will be used to offset the loss of the vessel and contents, expected to be around $50k. I may yet face costs of $25k to remove her from the beach if not sold via trademe

Why wasn't she insured? This boat is a ferrocement hull which is not insurable other than 3rd party.
