A four-year journey of courage, hope, heartbreak, and unconditional love.
Auckland
Our beautiful son, Caylus, was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukaemia (JMML) at just 2 years old. He bravely endured chemotherapy and was blessed to receive a bone marrow transplant from a donor, allowing him to beat cancer.
Sadly, his journey didn’t end there. Caylus developed Graft-versus-Host Disease (GVHD), which severely affected his skin and later attacked his lungs. Although his skin healed, there was no cure for the damage to his lungs. Over the next three years, he relied on oxygen, a BiPAP machine, and countless hospital stays at Starship.
Despite everything, Caylus remained incredibly brave. He made friends, brought smiles to those around him, and faced every challenge with strength beyond his years. Our family balanced his treatments while raising his two brothers, and Starship Hospital became our second home.
On 25 June 2026, after fighting for four amazing years, our brave boy peacefully passed away at just 6 years old.
We are now trying to give Caylus the loving farewell he deserves. We don’t yet know the full cost of his funeral, but any donation, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Some financial assistance may be available but will not cover everything.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this heartbreaking time.
I am the proud father of Caylus, and I am raising funds to help give him the farewell he deserves.
The money raised will help cover Caylus’ funeral costs and provide a beautiful urn to give our brave boy the farewell he deserves.
Thank you so much, Karen. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything you’ve done for our family. Your love, kindness, and support meant more than words can ever express. Caylus loved you so much, and knowing how much you cared for him will stay with us forever. We will always be grateful. ❤️
