Help six students from Hillmorton High School in Christchurch NZ get to Texas, USA to compete in the Vex Robotics World Championships.
Christchurch, Canterbury
Hillmorton High Year Ten Robotics have qualified for a place in the World Championships in Texas this year. These students have come together and acheived great success in a short period of time. They work together building and coding weekly or more often when a competition is close. They also compete in mini scrimmages monthly throughout the year. This team was the only South Island team to qualify for nationals, and one of only three teams to qualify for World Championships. As a school team these students are planning to move to the next level of Robotics competition which is the VexV5. This builds on their knowledge of design engineering and computer programming. These students have gained a lot of transferable skills for their schoolwork such as being able to work well in a team, listening to others, communicating and self motivation. They are constantly looking for ways to improve their designs and this iteration of ideas builds towards their success.
This money will meet the shortfall in flights, accomodation and transport to get our team of six Year Ten students to Texas, USA from Christchurch, NZ to compete in the Vex IQ Robotics World Championships. We will be gone for one week at the end of April.
