HIV+ Family Hui for families in NZ

Positive Women Inc. is running another two yearly Family Hui for families living with HIV in NZ from 4-6 November 2016.

There are many families in New Zealand who are living with and are affected by HIV, however there is very little support available for them especially those living in the South Island. Many families struggle with the complex issues of living with HIV in isolation and fear.

The Family Hui provides families living with HIV the opportunity to reduce the isolation they experience, and a time where information about the medical, social and psychological aspects of HIV can be shared and where new ways of coping with the virus can be learned. The Hui also provides a recreational and therapeutic environment where children and parents can share valuable life experiences.

We want to make the Hui accessible to as many women and families as possible. Funding is needed to provide food and transport and to cover costs for accommodation. We also need funds to cover the costs for the health professionals and other volunteers who give their valuable time at the Hui.
