Three of our top drama students have won the chance to represent Hawkes Bay in the National TheatreFest finals but they need financial help.
Hawke's Bay
The recent closure of Havelock North High School due to the campylobacter outbreak has wrought havoc with our young actors' rehearsal schedule, but they still managed to place first equal in the Lower North Island finals of the National TheatreFest competition. Their 13 minute excerpt from Shakespeare's Measure for Measure wowed the adjudicator, who said they managed to "breathe fresh life into one of Shakespeare's more complex scenes".
Our three actors Jack, Molly and Bianca from Havelock North High School have just won a place in the National TheatreFest finals with their excerpt from Shakespeare's Measure for Measure. Now they face the challenge of raising just under $3000 in order to travel to Invercargill to represent the Bay in the National Finals. They are already working hard preparing concerts in schools and rest homes but still expect to be well short of their target by the time it comes to start the journey south.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
Hi - I'm Matt Brebner and I'm involved because I have been all three students' drama teacher at Havelock North High School. I will be the staff member accompanying them to Invercargill. Thanks to all for your encouragement and generous support.
