Matt has been fighting Cancer since 2010. Recently, another tumour has been found & he needs support for a prosthetic leg & treatments.
Auckland
Not all heroes wear capes and Matt is certainly one of those! At the age of 11, in March 2010, Matt was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma bone cancer in his left lower leg. From here, he underwent 9 months of grueling chemotherapy and a huge operation to remove the tumour. All was going well, until late January 2013 when 2 tumours were discovered in his lung.
Since then, Matt and Murray's family has been fighting constant relapses, countless surgery’s, three rounds of chemo, and doing whatever it takes to win this battle, while looking to the future for any treatments that can help Matt!
Never thinking they would make it this far, 7 years on, the world is throwing them another curve ball.
In the last few weeks Matt has developed a sore left knee. Hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst, after a MRI and bone scan, Orthopedic surgeon, Mike Hanlon suspected that it could be another bone tumour.

8 December - Not great news, yet again for Matt and the family. It has been confirmed that another tumour has been found in Matt's leg, with amputation being the next mountain to climb for Matt.
17 year old Matthew is his family’s and so many others' hero, he has given this fight all he has got. He continues to challenge all statistics and bad news that is put in his way, and this next journey won't change that.
Never complaining or loosing his Matthew sparkle, everyday he manages to put a smile on his face, and inspire so many people of all ages without even realising. All Matt wishes for is to be healthy and to be able to start his new journey at Media Design School next year.
Right now he needs a prosthetic leg, which is around $15k. Then from there the family will look at treatment options. But the best option they are looking at is $10k each round, and he will need at least 6. Any support would mean the absolute world to Matt and his family!! So give a little or a lot, everything helps!!
