Just to let all my generous supporters. Honey has a diagnosis of Cushings disease so she is medicated to help with the symptoms this causes and has lost weight with diet and exercise to help illeviate her symptoms so this means she should get a few more years of quality life.

Whippy is still a work in progress I am saving hard and working with my vet to keep her pain free until I can pay for her surgery which we ( the vet and I) have decided to do it here in HB with the support from other vets as well as my own. So fingers crossed this offers her a pain free future. Thank you all for your help and lovely messages

  • UPDATE - Honey & Whippy

      28 April 2022

The latest on my fur family.

I have been in and out of hospital myself so I have not sent an update on building a fund to cover my babies treatment and tests for diagnosis. So firstly Honey. The vets are 99% sure she has Cushing disease & treatment seems to be working. The only way to get 100% was open surgery on her liver so I drew the line at putting her through such a huge painful operation ( her and I seem to have the same issues) so fingers crossed she will have a comfortable time in her teighlight❤️

Whippy the poor girl has had to wait for her trip to a Waikato because I am not well enough myself to drive her up to waikato to get her tests and surgery. She has pain medication everyday and seems happy. So in order to get her there and treated it will be between $2500 to $3000.. I will be happy with any help offered but my vision for a future fund seems like it will be unachievable but I will keep trying.

I now have a more solid cost for Whippy’s treatment and surgery the dental specialist in Eaikato has said between $2500 and $3000. Her best chance is removing all her teeth and large pieces of her jaw in the hope of stopping what ever it is in there will be cut out and by examining the removed pieces a possible diagnosis.

Honey seems (fingers crossed) to have perked up after only her first few days. Am really sad to not be home to see her improvements, but she is in the best hands with my mum and her little rascal.

Whippy update unfortunately she has to wail untill I’m at home before I can get her up waikato to get her sorted.

Today sees Honey at the vet having a special test to see if what she has is Cushings disease. In a way we want it to be this as it can be treated. So results will come in approximately a week.

Whippy’s case is now in the hands of a dental specialist in Waikato, she is going to right this up as a case study because it is a very unusual case. She will have the ear of vets all over the world. So if she has a chance , this is the absolute best she could have. And more good new on my case. A specialist in North Shore Mr Booth has recieved funding to see and treat me. This will mean I will be away from my babies for a bit. But hopefully we will all come out the other end whole and well. Fingers crossed

Thank all of you for your generous support.

I had a call from my lovely vet Heather today to give me the current situation.

Honey goes Monday to have a blood test then the inject a drug then take another blood test which are then compared. While it’s expensive this I can handle. Whippy however we are praying for a miricle at this stage. The dental specialist in The Waikato has agreed to take Whippy’s case. Which is not something she has seen but has the ear of vets from all round the world to call on.

The miricle we are hoping for is in 2 parts 1 that the vet can diagnose and treat Whippy and 2 that we can actually get her there. It will be between $2000 and $3000. I was really hoping this would be the beginning of an on going fund for pets and owners that would go straight to vets and not get eaten by administration etc.

    UPDATE FOR “Whippy”

Her Blood results came back with more questions than answers.

So next step is a referral to either Waikato or Auckland to a Vetanary Dental Specialist. And if they think it is treatable there will be more ongoing medication ( she has already had 7 $400 bottles of anti fungal medication. And it is a 99% chance there will be surgery luckily between 2 of my wonderful friends I have accomodation for myself so all funds will go towards costs for Whippy (and Honey)which are at this stage unknown. I am going to see if Honey’s referral can be at the same time to the same place but am un sure if this is even possible.
