Honour Dr. Sue Dymock and her support of children with reading difficulties

Hamilton, Waikato

Dr. Susan Jane Hume Dymock passed away after a short illness on Thursday, 2nd November 2023 aged 69.

Sue was an internationally recognized specialist in literacy and dyslexia. She founded and directed the Hamilton Children's Reading Centre where over 500+ students learnt to read at no cost. Sue over the course of 18 years fundraised more than $750,000 to fund the centre.

In lieu of flowers, we will use any donations to continue to support financially disadvantaged children with reading difficulties. A teacher until the end.

A service will be held at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 6 Te Aroha Street, Hamilton at 11am, Thursday, 9th November.

Any money raised will be donated to support reading programs for financially disadvantaged children with reading difficulties. Donations will help to cover tuition costs and resources.

Sue was such a fabulous lecturer and advocate for reading for all children. She inspired me to go in and complete my doctorate.

Sue meant a lot to many people and made a real difference in people's lives, as she did in mine. A wonderful idea to raise funds for the Reading Centre to honour Sue. Arohanui to all the family.
