Hope Rising: Rebuilding Lives After the Chile Fires

Dear Friend,

Our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastating impact of the fires in Chile, particularly in Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. Last Friday, on 2 February 2024, a catastrophic fire event unfolded, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The fire wiped out almost the entire town, trapping many people in their homes and tragically claiming lives.

Among those profoundly affected are our beloved brother, Carlos Ruz, and his entire family. Carlos is not just a fellow member; he is a passionate youth leader within our local New Zealand Church community, dedicating himself to serving the young people in the Auckland Area and beyond.

Evacuated with only the clothes on their backs, Carlos's parents, brothers, sisters, and their families now face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch. The fire spared nothing—cars, houses, documents, and all belongings were consumed by the unforgiving flames.
