Ukraine is now in its fourth year of fighting to defend its independence. We (Jason and Amy) have been right there beside them from the beginning. In 2024, we started Never Alone – Humanitarian Kitchen after seeing the need not only for fresh, hot meals, but also a morale boost and a moment of respite from the grinding war. For the last two years, over two separate missions, this is exactly what we have delivered. Now, we are preparing for our third Never Alone mission.
So far, we have served 5,000 meals to people living in devastated towns, refugee shelters, and to soldiers. We have also supplied hundreds of frontline soldiers with lifesaving equipment, including generators, Starlinks, tourniquets, first aid kits, and thermal clothing, and delivered essential hygiene products to remote and neglected areas.
This has all been made possible by the generosity of Kiwis! We sincerely thank you for the difference you have made in the lives of people far away.
We value every donation and use it as wisely as possible. Our meals cost less than $2 per serve while also being nutritious, tasty, and sustaining, so truly every dollar makes a difference.
Thank you for not forgetting about Ukraine.

Things are not okay 16 October 2026
This is a long overdue update. We have been back in Ukraine, for our 3rd season of Never Alone, for just over a month and we have see a horrific change in this war.
Civilian casualties are now at their highest since March of 2022. Russia's campaign on Kyiv has made the city one of the most dangerous places in Ukraine for civilians, even though Kyiv is at least 340km from the Russian border.
Short-range Russian FPV drones are now making it into cities they have never been able to before. Our city of Kharkiv is experiencing this on a daily basis, with multiple people killed and wounded in the last month alone. These are not unfortunate incidences of war, but targeted attacks on civilians. FPV drones are controlled by an operator stationed in Russian held territory. They can see their target via the drone camera and purposefully attack civilians.
I am telling you this to express that this war is not getting better because it's not on your TV anymore, it's getting worse BECAUSE it's not on your TV. Russia knows the world isn't watching.
But your help has made a difference! We have expanded our project to include aid for orphanages. This has been incredibly meaningful. The children that have suffered the worst because of this war now know that people all over the world care for them.
