Keep Kiwi Swimming alive

  • an update on Kiwi Swimming

      13 February 2025

Kiwi Swimming is growing, thanks to you, which is good to see. Just under two years ago there were 3000 people following the page. Six months ago that increased to 5000 followers.

It is now at 5700 followers with more than 36,000 people so far reading just the post on Sam Muir-James fantastic achievement posted about 24 hours ago, which you read about first on Kiwi Swimming ( if you didnt, go read it now) . Would like to write more, I'm tired, and I`m getting older so its a bit harder keeping things going, but the sport is worth it. If you can donate to assist please do. Also if you want to write a post on the page please do get in touch

Hi all as you know swimming in NZ is in bit of a state and it needs someone to keep the communications going to inform people on the sport, write articles , celebrate achievements and Swimming NZ, the national NSO is not doing it nor does it want to. So I am reopening this Givealittle page to help me do it - hope you can contribute despite the current economic climate

  • this post will be on Kiwi Swimming tomorrow

      10 July 2024

    Hi there,

First off- let me just say a huge thank you to donors. Without your generous contributions, this page would have either closed or been severely scaled back in April. So thank you so much for helping to keep Kiwi Swimming alive and kicking! Athlete profiles and news stories on Kiwi Swimming are free to read, but creating this content, particularly talking with swimmers, takes time and effort. We’ve recently published various analyses, profiles, and interviews with swimmers, as well as had stories on the back of Kiwi Swimming posts on platforms like Newsroom and the NZ Listener. Here are a few links so you can read this content

Unfortunately, our funding has run out, and we can’t continue to produce most of this content without support in this current climate as I'm unable to do this on a purely volunteer basis. If you value the quality swimming information we provide and want Kiwi Swimming to continue, please consider donating again to our Givealittle campaign. You can also really help by sharing this page with your friends, family, or swimming contacts! Your support is crucial for us to keep this page running. Without it, we will be able to operate fully after the end of this month and we are trying to raise at least $3,000 to keep providing this service for as long as we can.

  • page update

      1 July 2024

HI there - this page is to be reopened prior to the Paris Olympics later this month. thanks to the lat give a little the Aquablack profiles have nearly all been done. Just one swimmer, one coach and two para swimers to contact. With your support, this will allow the Olympics to be covered. For the first time ever NZ has two world swimming champions going into the Olympics; our best chance in 28 years of getting a medal and the best chance ever of getting two medallists. Without support the KIwi Swimming page will probably be closed prior - or at least severely scaled down - prior to the Olympics and you ll have to find analysis of swimming eslewhere, but there is no where else.

  • thanks for supporting Kiwi Swimming

      1 May 2024

HI there - the Givealittle has closed. Thanks for your support, it has enabled me to cover trials, Oceanias ( but I did not use fundrasing to attend) and to write bios of swimmers, more of which will be coming.. As I cant keep on writing for free I`ll probably be doing another push via give a little so I can cover the Paris Olympics properly given its our best team in 28 years despite the lack of a men's relay. Some of you have suggested I do this and will support again so thanks.

  • Update on Kiwi Swimming

      9 March 2024

Hi there, thanks for your generous donations, I wante to write to you alll to let you know that this has enabled me to do some Aquablack profiles for media outlets and others - starting with Olympic qualifiers - as ones created by Swimming NZ are not up to scratch ( https://www.swimmingnz.org/performance-and-coaching). The first one is now done and will be on Kiwi Swimming next week and Im hoping to get a website created at some stage too.
