Helping our Whānau Through Surgery & Recovery

  • Yesterday's carefully planned “let’s make some wholesome Dad memories before surgery” adventure got slightly rewritten by the universe.

    Instead we got:

    - a broken tooth that needed an emergency dentist appointment (me)

    - a daycare virus (the tiny one)

    - almost no sleep

    - and a tiny hurricane child operating entirely on popsicles and at about the level of a gentle breeze compared to her usual chaos and destruction

Honestly though? Still a great day.

The tiny one decided the best use of morning was becoming the tallest person in the family by riding around on Dada’s shoulders like some tiny exhausted emperor surveying her kingdom.

We didn’t make it out on some big meaningful adventure.

No magical family road trip montage.

    No emotional sunset moment.

Just a day hanging out in the lounge watching kids programs and contemplating how ridiculous life can be sometimes.

And honestly, that’s probably the stuff we remember anyway ❤️

  • Honestly… thank you.

      9 May 2026

I genuinely don’t think we’ll ever properly be able to express how grateful we are for the support our little whānau has received over the last few days.

The donations, messages, shares, comments, offers of help, and simple check-ins have honestly been overwhelming in the best possible way.

Putting it out there that we're asking for help is weirdly uncomfortable, but thanks to those who pushed us to open this page, the kindness people have shown us has already taken a huge amount of stress off our shoulders heading into surgery week.

This was the first quiet moment I’ve had to sit down and try to properly say thank you.

From the bottom of our hearts:

thank you ❤️ this is just beyond belief
