Hurunui BMX Track Build - public

$170 of $30,000 goal
Given by 6 generous donors in 10 weeks

The Hurunui BMX Club has been established to build an entry level competition track for young people in the Hurunui District.

Canterbury

The Hurunui BMX Club have;

* secured $100 000 in funding - half of that the Club raised alone

* a track design and site

* become an Incorporated society

* applied for Resource Consent

* Olympic Medalist Sarah Walker's support

* support from schools district wide

* contractors and materials

* local business support

* Club Members

The Club has achieved a lot in under 12-months but with our deadline of a September 2015 track build creeping closer, we need the communities help to get over the finish line.

The Club is awaiting the outcome of one other funding grant. We are confident we will be successful but know we have a shortfall of approximately $30 000. Your contribution will help us realise our goal as securing funding for a project of this size has its challenges!

The total cost of the build, including a car park, storage and landscaping is $193,000 ex gst. A big price tag but the end result for young people in our district can't be measured!

We have two contractors that have the machines and skill to build this track We have the Hurunui District Council's support, the support of school children district wide, local businesses and national funding providers - NZCT and The Lion Foundation. Thank you.

Hurunui BMX Club's involvement (page creator)

This project has been my brainchild and a consuming one at that! As a newby to the district I identified the need for more accessible recreational activities for young people. I then set about developing an idea that could be built by the community itself and not one that relies on another organisation to do it.

Like any project where others see the need too, this project has grown to involve a number of organisations and people. However it's the children who ask me at the school gate when they can ride the track who are my personal motivators.

If you can, then please help us make the final hurdle of this expensive project, a reality.

Thank you!
