Koha to support the I Love Brighton Annual Event's costs

New Brighton, Christchurch

The annual I ♥ Brighton event was first established after the Christchurch earthquakes to celebrate, showcase and unite the greater Brighton community. Thousands of people attend this event each year which continues to bring the community together, through a low cost/no cost event that is open and accessible for all, raising awareness of local groups, while recognising of the significance of Waitangi Day.

A group of local charities including New Brighton Project, Eastern Community Sports & Recreation Inc, Youth Alive Trust, Christchurch Methodist Mission and New Brighton Library partner with the local Christchurch City Council community recreation team to plan and organise this event, where the positive effects are felt throughout the year by the groups who participate. The event receives a grant from the Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board, and some business sponsorship. We are asking locals who love Brighton for a small donation which will allow us to continue to offer this event and all its activities for free.
