Please help fund immunotherapy for Tim to battle pancreatic cancer

  • Round Five of Keytruda

On Sunday 31 October we took Tim into hospital to investigate a fever and increasing stomach and abdominal pain. He spent four days in hospital and was treated for a blood infection that was causing a number of unwanted symptoms. While he was in hospital he had his 12 week scan to assess how the Keytruda was going. To our dismay the scan showed that the cancer had progressed and spread. Tim’s initial tumor had doubled in diameter and there were numerous new small ones showing up in his lungs. The news was devastating.

Since then we have met with our oncologist and have agreed to start chemotherapy again from next week, as well as continuing with two additional rounds of Keytruda and a follow-up CT scan between now and Christmas.

Tim’s sisters (Bianca and Saffron) have joined us for a week from overseas and he is grateful to be able to enjoy this special time with his family around him in the sunny Bay of Plenty. Please say a prayer for Tim as we continue on this journey. Bless you for your kindness and charity in contributing to his treatment. Many thanks and lots of love from Tim and Sharlene Pardy xxoo 💜🙏

  • Round Three of Keytruda

      3 October 2022

Tim was able to receive his third cycle of Keytruda treatment last Tuesday (27 September). He is now noticing changes in his body. There is more abdominal pain, fatigue and changes in his blood chemistry. He has been able to reduce his normal working hours to help manage the symptoms (and has been able to finish some chopping boards between naps). Our oncologist has told us that at this stage it looks like a 50/50 draw between Tim and the cancer. His last abdominal examination was said to feel "completely benign". He is battling hard and we are anxiously looking forward to the CT scan in early November when progress will be assessed. We have one more cycle of treatment before then on the 18th October.

We send you our sincere thanks for your kindness and generosity that has enabled Tim to continue to receive this treatment. Nga mihi nui and bless you for your support 💜

  • Tim's Second Treatment (after a dose of covid)

      8 September 2022

The last three weeks have been particularly challenging with covid in the household. Unfortunately along with the covid symptoms Tim also had an allergic reaction to the anti-covid medication he was given which was a bit scary. However, we’ve all now recovered and Tim was able to receive his second Keytruda treatment on Tuesday afternoon. The treatment went well and so far has been much easier on his body than the chemotherapy was last year.

For now he is back at work and looking forward to the next treatment on the 27th September. One of our biggest challenges right now is having to wait until November when we have a CT scan to assess progress.

Our sincere thanks to you all for your kindness and generosity that has enabled Tim to have this treatment.

  • Update after first treatment

      22 August 2022

Hi Team, now that we have begun treatment we have been given a more accurate cost estimate for Tim's immunotherapy and so have adjusted our end goal accordingly. Tim has tolerated the first cycle of Keytruda really well and has been able to start back at work today. Thank you very much for your kind donations and fundraising efforts. Bless you for your generosity, compassion and support xxoo

Wow! Thanks to your incredible generosity and rapid response we received enough funding for Tim to be able to start treatment this week. He had his first dose of Keytruda yesterday afternoon. The treatment went well. He is feeling pretty good, went to bed slightly earlier last night, but is otherwise fine. So different to the chemotherapy!

His treatments will be once every three weeks so the next one is scheduled for Tuesday 6 September. After the fourth treatment we will have a scan to assess progress. The care from the staff at Canopy Cancer Centre in Tauranga has been fantastic.

Words cannot describe how incredibly grateful Tim and I are to have received your support. We are truly blessed to be in a position where Tim can receive this treatment.

With lots of love to you all ❤️

    Tim, Sharlene and family xx

Thanks so much to all my friends, family and supporters for your wonderful kindness during our first week of fund raising. I am delighted and humbled by such a huge response and such generosity. Thankfully it meant I could start immunotherapy right away in place of chemo. We still have light at the end of the tunnel. Bless each and every one of you for your compassion. I am deeply grateful 🥰🙏💜
