Helping Kane’s family through the heartbreak of his sudden passing and the costs that follow
Muriwai, Auckland
Further update (September 18):
We want to thank every person who has donated. Your kindness has gone far beyond covering Kane’s funeral costs, and the support shown to his whānau has been deeply moving.
With the total raised now exceeding what was needed for the funeral, the family (Kane’s mother and sister) has considered how the remaining funds can best be used in line with the purpose of supporting Kane’s loved ones. The funds will be applied as follows:
1. Funeral expenses: These costs will be met from the donations, with some support also coming from ACC.
2. Children’s future: Approximately $15,000 will be placed into a secure bank account for Kane’s children. The account will be managed under three signatories, including family members and a lawyer, and the funds will be preserved until the children reach adulthood, to provide long-term support and opportunities.
3. Immediate family support: A small amount of the remaining funds will go toward supporting Kane’s mother, Arlene, in recognition of her role and connection to him.
We recognise that the allocation of the additional funds raised above the funeral costs, has changed through time.
If you feel this revised arrangement does not reflect your intention when you donated, please contact helpdesk@givealittle.co.nz by 3 October 2025 to request a refund of your donation.
Thank you again for standing with Kane’s whānau. Your generosity will continue to make a meaningful difference.
I am a best friend of Kane’s sister and have set up this page on behalf of his family
As we have now massively exceeded our original goal, (Thank you!) any money raised above and beyond the funeral expenses, will now go towards Kane's family to help with financial support. The funeral home have also made a claim to ACC for funeral expenses.
