Fundraiser for 15 year old Katie Iti’s funeral - let’s give her the send off she deserves.
Wellington
Katie Iti unexpectedly passed away on Saturday 5th July from Influenza type B, at only 15 years old.
She has made a major impact on the NZ Drag Racing Community. The seed was planted when she began backing up HOTBOX, with her dad Shayne as crew chief. From there, the bug bit her, and she wanted more.
Every class, every car, every driver she loved and supported. From a “good luck” in the pits or message, to running one end of the pits to another to pick something up you may have forgotten, she was the first to put up her hand.
She recently got her own Junior Dragster, coined RDHZRD and raced alongside her best friend as “The Clutch Car Girls”.
Before every pass, you could see her “shake the nerves out” by rocking the car back and forth while she was all buckled up. We used to giggle together watching her do this little routine. That’s how you knew she was in the zone.
She completed one season in it before passing away. While she didn’t pick up any event wins, she became infamous in our scene purely for her love and passion for the sport.
Katie was our biggest supporter as Team BF, she was our little sister, we will forever miss her positive attitude, support, and wit. She was one of us. We will now forever be racing in her memory.
We would like to help raise funds for the Iti family to cover funeral costs anything leftover will help go towards bills so they can grieve this horrible loss.
The little sister we wish we had. Started off as a “fan” but quickly became family
