Due to a medical condition, I have lost my independence. I desperately need a car to regain this.
Nationwide
Due to a uncommon medical condition, I find myself afflicted with chronic neck, back and nerve pain. I have lost the ability to hold down a job and am now on a benefit. Without transport, I don't get to the various medical appointments I should attend. I used to use the ambulance service for transport, but they changed the rules and I no longer qualify as I don't live in the "correct decile area"..what ever that means! I have also approached various Government agencies for funding but, go figure, I don't qualify there either. I have tried to get finance under my own steam but it's hard to get approved when your income is low.
I am still very capable of driving and having a car would mean so much to me. Not having to rely on other people and having that transport fall through at the last minute which happens regularly. If I run out of cat food, I can just go and get some, saving me from hungry cats! (if you have a cat, you'll understand what I mean! hehe)
More importantly, I will be able to get to regular medical appointments which will improve my condition.
To clarify my condition, please google "chiari malformation with syringomyelia" this will give you more of an insight than I can portray on here. You will note that surgery is recommended..I had this procedure in April 2013. I have recovered well but unfortunately, the pain persists.
Thank you for your interest in my cause and I do appreciate you reading about my situation.
Best Wishes,
Gill
UPDATE: Over the weekend my 18 year old son sliced his thumb open. Without a car, I was totally useless and he woke up a mate at 3am to take him to A&E. To make matters worse, he required surgery and went through it alone after catching a bus to the hospital this morning.
As a parent, you really want to be there for your kids. Please help me to do so.
