We wish to support this group of students to achieve the educational and work related goals which they were expecting when they came to NZ.
Auckland
The Indian Students have kept their side of the deal, and have gone back to India, at a high financial and emotional cost to themselves. They are taking their case to the NZ Ombudsman. This will mean more legal costs, on top of the unexpected travel costs. They have done nothing to deserve this. All they are asking for , is to complete the courses and work experience, for which they have already paid. They will then be able to return to their lives in India, with a better chance of achieving the careers they have dreamed of, and have worked so hard to achieve. Please help prove that NZers do care about doing what is fair and right, and help the students out with their undeserved, extra expenses.
I'm involved because I believe these students have been treated unfairly. I met them when they sought sanctuary, and have been impressed by them all. They have sacrificed much to come here, and deserve the chance to pursue the opportunities they came here for.
Funds raised will be helped pay for legal and travel costs.
Ombudsman agrees to investigate 30 April 2017
The Ombudsman is looking into their case, but the wait continues. The students are in limbo, and it has been very difficult for them to find work in India. The legal and travel costs have not yet been covered, but every donation has been a morale booster. Thank you to those who have donated, or who are yet to do so...
