Why are the public being asked to fundraise to repair a public building? The school should have been insured. Why wasn't it? This is a job for the MoE. Taxpayers pay for this service - for schools to be maintained and insured. If that job isn't being done then someone didn't do their job?

Hi Fiona,

As we understand it – and we’re going on information the school’s provided to us – buildings are covered but the play/sports area which has been destroyed isn’t. That's primarily the damage we're hoping to offer some support for. However, I know that the Ministry is in contact with them and hopefully will be able to assist as well.

We're not trying to pay for it all - or do a job others should be doing. We just wanted to help out a little.
