Internet access for those in the Gisborne & Hawke's Bay affected by Cyclone Gabrielle
Hawke's Bay
There are many people in the Gisborne & Hawke's Bay areas that are not able to make contact with emergency services or their families due to a lack of mobile reception and internet capabilities. There are also medical centres and emergency relief organisations that desperately need internet access.
We aim to get Starlink routers to as many of those people as possible.
We are working with various organisations including Civil Defence that will facilitate helicoptering these items in to people in the worst affected areas, including the people that are unable to leave their area due to infrastructure damage and currently have no ability to communicate with the outside world.
Many of these people have an alternative power supply that they can use to power a Starlink router and this will make a huge difference to their safety and the peace of mind of both them and thier families.
Your donation will be used solely for the purchase of Starlink routers, required accessories and short-term internet plans for those that are unable to sign up themselves.
We are in the fortunate position of not being badly affected by Cyclone Gabrielle & we believe that
it is our responsibility to help those affected where we can.
