ITANZ is a charitable trust that provides education, information and training about the experiences of intersex and sex characteristic diverse people in Aotearoa,/New Zealand and is one of the world’s oldest registered NGOs in the intersex activist community.
The purpose of the ITANZ is to improve the lives of intersex people, their whānau and allies by challenging normative attitudes, raising awareness and celebrating diversity.
ITANZ is intersex led. It aims to increase the diverse perspectives of the intersex community.
ITANZ is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of six-ten members at any one time. The Board employs one permanent Executive Director (30 hours per week) and one volunteer oversees the financial and administrative functions.
ITANZ will utilise the generous funding from donors to:
• Cover some immediate operational costs
• Maintain the Intersex Youth Aotearoa online presence
• Continue to develop resources and training materials relevant to Aotearoa
• Attend relevant conference and hui to raise awareness and advocate for intersex issues locally and globally
• Connecting and advocating with organisations, family/whānau and individuals after experiences of great shame and isolation
Intersex Aotearoa aims to improve the lives of intersex people, their whānau and allies by challenging and changing attitudes, and celebrating diversity.
