London 2020 - The world cup of Information and Records Management

OK so it is not quite a world cup but pretty close to it.

In May 2020 I will be attending the international meeting for ISO Standards Committee TC46/SC11 - representing New Zealand to ensure we engage and vote on the direction of standards and projects that surround them.

ISO TC46/SC11 is the ISO Committee responsible for developing standards on records/archives management.

TC46 meets once a year, in different countries, and brings together top experts from around the world to share and exchange ideas and discuss technical content and the application of international standards.

It is a privilege to take part at this level, but it does come at a personal cost.

I have some funding towards flights so reaching out for help with accommodation and living costs for my week in London.

My travel to London is as Head of Delegation for New Zealand - this is through the convenor role I undertake for the International Review Group for Recordkeeping Standards.

The goals of the group are:

- To ensure that New Zealand votes on international recordkeeping standards in a timely and informed way, and provides substantive expert comment where appropriate.

- To ensure that these votes represent a broad constituency.

- To ensure that the recordkeeping community in New Zealand is well informed and represented.

- To support New Zealand participation in ISO Working Groups, Work Items, and Projects.

- To actively promote New Zealand priorities.

- To coordinate information flow to and from the New Zealand recordkeeping community.
