Felix lives with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD)—a progressive, life-limiting condition that causes severe muscle weakness, affecting both the body and the heart. DMD is the most common form of muscular dystrophy, and sadly, there is currently no cure or treatment. Support focuses on managing symptoms and preserving quality of life for as long as possible.
Felix lost the ability to walk by age 10 and had to adapt to the use of a manual wheelchair. Due to the rapid progression of the condition, he had to switch to a power wheelchair. Felix, now 24 years old, has very limited mobility.. And yet, despite these overwhelming challenges, Felix has shown remarkable resilience, earning a degree in Computer Science at AUT.
Since July 2024, Felix has been attending weekly one-on-one adaptive strength and conditioning exercise sessions through our FAM™PT Program. These sessions have become a vital part of his week—bringing not just support, but also a sense of purpose and connection. These weekly sessions mean a lot to Felix.
But now, government funding for these sessions has been cut!
FAM is proudly sponsoring Felix’s place in the program, and every dollar donated goes directly to paying the dedicated FAM coach he knows and trusts.
Please support Felix today. Any amount makes a difference.
Felix is part of the FAM™ community and attends the program since 2024
Main goal is raising money to pay the FAM™ coach for Felix's weekly sessions, any more would cover the hourly gym rent.
Thank You 15 December 2025
Hey FAMily, Thank you for your donations it meant that Felix could attend his PT sessions up to this week. The donations managed to just cover the coaches costs. We hope that the health care providers will get more funding in 2026 to allow Felix to continue his loved gym sessions.
Again a huge thank you for supporting Felix!
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year
