Please help our family get through Ivy’s longest and most difficult hospital stay.
Wellington
Our wee girl Ivy has had a pretty stink start to life - or rather quite the opposite!
Born on the 1st of December 2017, this brave little lady came out absolutely perfect except for one vital component: a bum!
She has a series congenital condition, all linked to a rare form of spina bifida, which has left her with anal atresia, sacral aplasia, pelvic dysplasia, spinal stenosis, and other secondary conditions. Basically she has no bum, no tailbone, and everything from her hips downward is a little bit different inside.
From the outside she is a chatty, feisty, healthy girl who loves peek-a-boo, baby backchatting, and unicorns. But sadly she has spent a lot of her wee life in Wellington Children’s Hospital, having a colostomy put in to allow her to poop, and having an anus artificially constructed for her little body.
As her Mum and Dad, we have done our very best to budget for her various surgeries and subsequent hospital stays, but on one income and with our 2 gorgeous sons to look after too, it hasn’t always been easy.
We are currently in Wellington for Ivy’s biggest and most important surgery to date: her colostomy reversal. Unfortunately things have not gone to plan for her, and we are having to stay her for MUCH longer than expected.
We have amazing friends and family to help look after our children and our house, but with Simon’s paid leave running out and with the children needing to return to their normal routines, things are becoming difficult financially.
Any donations we receive will go towards living expenses for back home, as well as our expenses while staying in hospital and travel to and from. What we have left over in the end, will be given to Wellington Children’s Hospital so the wonderful staff here can continue to provide an amazing environment for sick children.
Donations will be used to help keep our family afloat during this difficult time, and any excess will be donated to Wellington Children’s Hospital.
