James (47) a dad of 3 young children needs to get immunotherapy & treatment to help save his life from Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile duct cancer)
Whangarei, Northland
James Pearks 47 & husband to Darlene has three beautiful children Xavier (15), Georgia (13) & Nate (9) we need your help to give him more time with his family.
In Jun 21 Xavier & Darlene noticed James looked like he was turning yellow & after tests James was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile duct cancer) a rare & aggressive cancer, James tumour was in his bile duct & was operable, James went into surgery 7th Sept 21 to remove ¾ of his liver and his gallbladder. James then started on 6 months chemo to hopefully ensure that the cancer had been removed.
They and their friend Rob continued to run their Homegrown Juice distribution business in Northland during this. But due to the diagnosis they had to sell this in Feb 22 leaving them with substantial debt but free of the responsibilities of running a business.
In April 22 James scan showed that his cancer was gone and he was all cleared, but in June 22 James abdomen started to swell & it was discovered that his cancer had returned, this time to the abdominal wall - which is not operable.
James is now on palliative chemo to try to stop his cancer growth, unfortunately after two rounds of chemo his cancer is still aggressively active. After research and with the help of James wonderful oncologist they are adding immunotherapy to his chemo as this could give him the chance needed to extend his life.
Unfortunately in NZ this is not funded we are needing to raise money to help fund this treatment for James please help us.
James is my brother in law, Darlene and James have been together since they were 16 so he is like a brother to me.
Immunotherapy testing and drugs (Keytruda) after the testing to help keep James alive. (Biomarker testing)
Update on James Journey from Darlene and James 24 August 2022
James had his second immunotherapy infusion today.
Infusions are every three weeks and cost just over $9k each time.
Since his first one we've noticed that James has been more active and his appetite has been increasing.
James has been able to enjoy more of everyday life which has been so uplifting for us all.
We want to thankyou all for your donations, without these non of this would be possible.
So much gratitude and love to you all
James, Darlene, Xavier, Georgia and Nate xxx
