James’ legacy: Help me so I can help you

Help me help others on my journey to becoming a qualified social worker.

Wellington

I am the Mother to James Swan (google him there are stories out there on our trouper). Our gorgeous boy passed away age 5 this year after fighting an incredibly rare neuromuscular and brain disorder. James never got a diagnosis. He required 24/7 care, and we learnt through experience that our child palliative services do not exist and crisis support post diagnosis of life changing conditions for their children also do not exist in Wellington.

I was thrown into the world of medically fragile and disabled children, a world lacking so much vital support for families. These families and children deserve better help, they need to know we care, we understand their struggle, their stress and the general turmoil they are in.

I want to help these children and their families, long term I envisage a trust but to have credit behind me alongside my real life experience I’m going to become a qualified social worker. This is where I need you! It will cost around $24K to complete the 4 year Degree. I’m hoping to fundraise 1/2 the cost. I do not qualify for a student loan.

Please help me to help others xxx
