She is pain free and at peace now. Thank you Janet for being such an amazing friend and my NZ Mom. Will always remember our time spent together. xoxo

  • Thank you Givealittle & all you wonderful people

      5 February 2025

This may be my last update on the Givealittle Page.

The family and I want to thank everyone for their love, care, and support of Mum and Dad throughout the last 13 months.

Mum is still hanging in there. She has had a few bad turns in the last few months as the cancer cells have grown and spread to other parts of her body. Mum is becoming less mobile due to the cancer in her bones and the cancer has also spread to her liver. Part of her lungs have collapsed and she is now on oxygen.

As most of you know Mum and Dad are now living at Arvida Aria Gardens Rest Home in Albany. If anyone wishes to visit them, please brighten their day with your presence, and KitKat and Gingernut biscuits for Dad, Liquorice (plain), and Ready Salted Crisps for Mum. ❤️😉🫂

Thanks again for all the contributions made which we have been able to purchase a burial plot at Schnapper Rock Cemetry. Just a few more dollars to go to finalise the burial arrangements.

Love to everyone. ❤️ If you wish to see Mum, please do so sooner than later. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. xxxxx

Mum and Dad have recently moved into Arvida Aria Gardens in Albany. Mum now requires full-time care. It is a huge adjustment for them so please keep them in your prayers and please feel free to visit them.

  • Back at Home ❤️

      11 October 2024

    Hello again,

After 3 weeks in hospital, Mum and Dad returned home this week. Mum has recovered from pneumonia and delirium and is currently managing the pain. As expected her immune is very low and will be susceptible to further infection. We also have a confirmed diagnosis for Dad, Lewy Body Dementia. Right now, they are so happy to be at home, together. Thanks to the wonderful medical team in Ward 10 at NSH, all assessments have been done. This means that Mum and Dad and the family will receive support through Geneva Healthcare with carers and the option of respite care when required. Please keep your prayers coming. Thank you to those who have continued to pray and for keeping in touch with Mum and Dad. ❤️

  • An update on Mum and Dad

      27 September 2024

    Hi everyone,

It has been a bit of a rollercoaster week for the family. Both my parents, Janet & Mike have been admitted to hospital.

Mum was admitted last Thursday to help manage pain. Unfortunately, she has developed pneumonia and is on antibiotics to fight the infection. With the infection and her weak immune system due to the spread of cancer, she has also developed delirium. It is very upsetting for all of us to see our matriarch in this state, however, the doctors have advised that she is responding well to the antibiotics and she should recover from the pneumonia and delirium. We trust this to be true. Mike, as most people know has Dementia and Parkinsons' and is struggling with his condition along with the anxiety of losing his precious wife. The doctors are running further tests on Mike as well. The doctors have been amazing at North Shore Hospital, keeping Janet & Mike comfortable in the same room, monitoring them, and informing us daily of their progress. The doctors, nurses, and social worker have all been compassionate and patient with us all.

Please continue to pray for Mum and Dad, for the Lord to give them comfort and peace. Thank you. xoxo

  • Funeral Plans and Plot

    Hi Everyone,

Just a quick update as it has been a while. Mum and Dad have finally decided on Hibiscus Funerals in Whangaparaoa for the funeral arrangements. Tracey was very accommodating and understanding of our needs, and all the while respectful and very caring. We are truly blessed. Taking it one step further, Mum and I took a drive to North Shore Memorial Park (Schnapper Rock) and Mum has chosen where she would like to be buried. It was a very emotionally moving experience for us both. Thanks to everyone for their contribution thus far which has now assisted us in purchasing the burial plot.

  • Thankfulness 🙏

      25 July 2024

We continue to be grateful for everyone's care and support for Mum. Thank you, Thank you. I cannot express my thankfulness enough. 🙏

It's been an honour to have this time with Mum, and to meet so many of her friends and work colleagues that have been a part of her life over the last 13 years.

Mum has been in good spirits lately. Thank you, Theresa, for organising an afternoon tea and arranging for some of Mum's colleagues to visit with delicious snacks! Mum really enjoyed such valuable time spent with her.

As Mum's portocath has become infected she will be undergoing a small surgery today to remove it. Please keep her in your prayers. Thank you. xx

  • Thank you everyone for all your love and support

We are so appreciative of everyone who has touched our lives. Every day brings on a different meaning and different circumstances.

Mum is having some good and not-so-good days. The good days are when she has the energy to sit in the lounge or visit her favourite grocery store, mostly to see the people she worked closely with for so long. I visited her store today and the team was full of praise for Mum and sent their love in bounds. I have shared this with Mum. Thank you so much!

And a big Thank You to her Company, Hoop who sent her a fabulous care package!

A not-so-good day is not having the energy to leave the warmth and comfort of her bed. The mountain then comes to Mum. :-)

Thank you all again and if you have not already, please share. xxx
