Help us raise funds for possible treatment, after Joan's rare & devastating diagnosis of Primary Progressive Aphasia.
Wellington
Joan received unexpected and devastating news that she was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) - a very rare neurodegenerative disease.
Joan loves spending quality time and adores her 3 grandkids with the 4th grandchild on the way. In her spare time Joan partakes in various online studies around the world contributing towards knowledge around PPA in the hope of producing better outcomes, for people in the future.
Joan used to be a teacher before PPA started inhibiting her ability to talk and is well regarded in the community as a kind, caring and compassionate person.
Currently there is no funded treatment for PPA but recently Joan was approved for a stem cell transplant that is new to New Zealand. This procedure is costly but could significantly improve symptoms and quality of life.
Through enhanced quality of life Joan will be able to continue to be the most selfless and loving person while enjoying quality time with family and friends.
If anyone deserves a chance then this is your person.
Any help is greatly appreciated through a financially and emotionally difficult time. All funds will be used for the stem cell treatment and financial hardship.
Thank you.
