This page is made with love to support Jodi on her journey to recovery.
Gisborne
Jodis journey first began in July 2018 when left sided weakness led her to her first stay in hospital, after an MRI, lumbar puncture and various other tests a neurologist told us it is likely that she has Multiple Sclerosis and that because this was the first presentation, it would be documented as a clinically isolated syndrome, with a 60-80% chance it would happen again within 5 years. The neurologist reassured Jodi that it could have also been a one off, and may never come back.
Fast forward to December 2020, Jodi was being treated with large doses of steroids for what they thought was an MS flare up due to right sided weakness, this caused an adverse and severe reaction to steroids resulting in delirium.
Unfortunately during her delerium, Jodi had a horrific accident resulting in 4 spinal fractures, a severely broken left ankle and a broken right ankle. See link for article in The Gisborne Herald. Also featured on stuff.co.nz.
She was flown to waikato hospital for emergency surgery on her spine and left ankle, 6 screws were inserted into her spine, and plates and screws in her ankle. She is coming home as soon as alterations are made to the house to rest and recover. An active gardener she is going to miss being able to potter in her garden and perhaps this could help achieve boosting her mood and overall wellbeing by eliminating unnecessary stress.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story and any donation, no matter how small, is appreciated.
I am Jodis partner of almost 4 years, just hoping to cheer her up with some community spirit
Funds would go toward finding the perfect puppy as that's therapy in itself. Enrolling in puppy school, registration etc. Additional funds will go towards things to help with jodis recovery that may not be covered by ACC.
