  • Update on Tristan

      27 July 2025

    Hi everyone,

We wanted to keep you all in the loop with how Tristan is doing. Recently, the cancer has unfortunately shown some more growth. The last clinical trial drug was giving us hope and seemed to be working however the scans told a different story.

Tristan’s oncologist has started him on a new medication.

This new treatment is still very new for his type of cancer and there isn’t much research on how well it works for Tristan’s type of cancer. But we’re staying hopeful — the doctors believe it could help, and that hope means so much right now. The cost of the new treatment is a couple of dollars shy of $10,000 a month.

Tristan’s strength and positivity keep us all going. He’s fighting harder than ever, with so much courage and determination.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love, support, and prayers. Every single message, donation, and thought helps more than words can say.

We’ll keep sharing updates as we go. Please keep believing with us.

  • Tristan update…

      21 April 2025

The last couple of weeks have been extremely challenging.

Tristan has been unwell for the past month, the last two weeks being the hardest with him pretty much needing 24/7 care.

The latest scan has shown that the cancer is growing again.

We can't fault our medical team, who admitted him into hospital straight away and started the chemotherapy clinical trial and are working on pain management.

This chemo knocks him for an absolute six. It's not easy seeing your child so sick and not being able to fix it.

So for now we will continue on with the trial and pray it has a positive result.

Thank you everyone for all of your messages, visits and support, it doesn’t go unnoticed xx

  • An Update on Tristan

      5 February 2025

We thought it was time we did an update for you all.

Tristan finished his chemo cycle in November, and his last scan in January showed that at this stage his cancer is stable. However, the cancer is still present in his body.

We are so happy that he is having time feeling “normal” again and getting some hair growth back – the beanies get to take a back seat for a little while.

It is sounding promising that he will be accepted onto a clinical trial in Auckland, we were very surprised to hear this as we were initially told that there is nothing in New Zealand for the rare cancer he has. However, the Sarcoma team in Auckland are willing to look at placing him on a trial of drugs they have been studying.

As a family we continue to be so proud of Tristan, he has been so resilient and really is an inspiration to all of us, he makes us proud every day.

We are taking all of the wins where we can and are so grateful to all of you for your support.

  • Update - Tristan

      27 August 2024

Just a little update of how our boys progress is going - He has had 6 rounds of chemo since January, these consisted of 5 different drugs with 2 drugs being administered in the day unit over 2 days then 21 days later he is admitted to hospital for 5 days of chemo for the other three drugs. We found out last week they have had to stop 1 of the chemo drugs as he has reached his life time limit.

At the moment progress has been good and the cancer is shrinking however, the reality is we dont know if the chemo is going to cure it.

If it doesnt we have been offered a special blood test that gets sent to the USA and analysed for other treatment options and comes with a starting cost of $4500.00

At the moment our boy is fighting hard and we couldnt be more proud.

We also couldnt have done it without our support system, thank you all xx
