I am happy to finally say, the bleeding has stopped and tomorrow Jordie is getting the last few stiches out. He is recovering very well and last week he was able to come with me to Zumba. He was the happiest boy ever! We will keep using the Bioptron light therapy for a couple more weeks or longer if needed, also using Manuka wash on his scars (this is a homemade remedy we’ve been given by one of our Zumba lady) , and soon he will put his dancing shoes on and get up for a boogie :-D

Now that this fundraiser closes, I would like to thank everybody for being there with us on this hard journey, and supported us emotionally and financially.

You have worked hard for the money that you donated to us. We appreciate it and are very thankful. Words are fleeting, and we want you to know that a simple “thank you” doesn’t do justice to how deeply we appreciate your support.

    Love and blessings,

    Jordie, Erika and Les

Waking up with clean sheet on Jordies bed makes me feeling a bit more in ease. Jordie and dad went for their morning walk, first time since the op. Quiet day today, at least the sun is out and we can have fresh air in the house. Sheets are still covering the carpet as he is still draining through the drainage area. Wiping is becoming a habit now, every time he gets up, mum is around with tissue. While dad is keeping Jordie in place and calm, mum can do some work.

I just remembered, last week I forgot to share with you the BEST NEWS! Test result from lab came back negative, which means the tumour was not cancerous! Yaaay! However, the vet told us, it could’ve cause problem later on, so it was important to remove it. Phew!

Jordie is still eating well and he was behaving normal until night time. So we went for our short walk, of course he wasn’t happy to come back from half way of our normal distance. He is missing his full walk, but he is not quite having the strength to do it just yet. We came home, mum and dad had dinner and shortly after that he started to behave very weird. He was just sitting and gazing at us. Then he started to be fidgety and he surely wanted to tell us something, we just didn’t know what. He was totally out of his normal self, even though he didn’t get any drugs at all. It took Les about 10 minutes to calm him down. Still don’t know what was that for, but after going to bed, he slept through the night. By the way, in case you wonder, he sleeps in our bedroom on his own cot mattress, so we can hear every breath and move, especially when he barks and growls in his dream, bless him 😊

    Tuesday Day 6

Jordies wound was seeping overnight, but it is not too bad, at least it is not a paddle of fresh blood. I took him for a little walk this morning, using paper towel to keep his side clean and dry, just padding off whatever is leaking out. I have used 5 or 6 sheets of towel over the short walk. We decided with Les not to give Jordie any painkiller because of yesterday's reaction. We gave him the antibiotics though because there is a concerning sign of inflammation on the cut. Instead of painkillers, I decided to use our Bioptron Medical Light on the scars. So I set it up and I did 4 minutes on the open wound with the fullerene lens, then 4 minutes on the stitched up area with blue lens to reduce the inflammation. The open wound is not leaking any more, yaaay! And the colour on the cut is much paler. I will do another session on him this afternoon. Well, my joyful thoughts were a bit too early. The bleeding did started back later on. However, his scar is definitely healing nicely. He also looking good and eating well.

    Wednesday Day 7

Nothing much happened, it is just the usual leaking and running after our boy to keep his stitches dry under the leaking wound. I did another Bioptron Medical Light session on the scars. Loving the look of those, but I am not happy about the drainage. Yes, I understand, it has to be open to let it drain, but how do you know how much is too much? Jordie was a bit needy today, he wanted both of us to be around him. Isn’t it so amazing how they can communicate without words. Jordie especially good of talking telepathically through his beautiful eyes. I love him so much!

    Thursday Day 8

Today I have snapped. I just could not handle seeing the bloody mess everywhere. I called his surgeon and managed to set up an appointment, so we took Jordie back to her. She looked at him and she was very pleased with the scarves, both of the large cuts are healing pretty fast. However, the extra blood was a bit concerning for her too. She decided the best way to go forward to stitch up the drainage hole, which will stop the blood leaking out, so ideally, it will create a pressure on the blood vessel, and the pressure will help stop the bleeding.

    Friday Day 9

Waking up and not seeing mark on his bed, such a great feeling! Stitches are holding well and Jordie looks much happier now. We need to hold him back because he is starting to do his morning bouncy dance :-D Had a great day, he even got out to the garden, spent about 10 minutes lying on the grass enjoying the sunshine while I was hanging the washing out. It was an easy day, finally some relaxing time for all of us. We went for a little longer walk, all went well. Then we got home and Jordie decided, he is feeling so good now, so he can roll and stay on his back. Only took a few minutes, but it was a mistake to let him do it. As he rolled back he turned on to his favourite right side where the cuts are, and bam, he started leaking through the stitches. Now he is cuddling up and saying sorry, promising he will behave more like an adult and will not roll on his back in the next 10 minutes hahaha The leaking has stopped, I think it is just the build up on the top that he pushed out with rolling on it. But we will keep an eye on and if needed, we will call the vet.

Day 5 – Vet visit again

It’s Monday, which means mum have to go to work in the morning, so Jordie stayed with dad all morning, following dad like a shadow. He is looking good, he eats well and behaves normal. The mark on his bandage expanded a bit but it is still holding. We had to clarify our appointment with the vet because they sent us the wrong place to go to. Once that got sorted, we were just waiting for the appointment time.

Finally, it is time to reveal. The vet removed the bandage…well not much changed, except less blood and it is a bit lighter colour now. The drainage tube has been removed and the vet said, no more bandage, the wound needs air to heal, and we agreed. We just have to coop with it until the discharging stops and the hole closes up. We have noticed that the bandage actually irritated one part of his cut and it is now very red and looking raw, so we’ve been given antibiotics for him, and have been suggested to give him a painkiller too.

As we got home, Jordie was due for his lunch and that was perfect timing to hide the two tablets in his meal. In about 15 minutes after he had his food, Jordie started to behave very weird, he was panting very fast, and he was kind of skittish. He was cuddling ap and showing fair, just like at the first night after the op. He wasn’t himself and first we didn’t understand why. We put the aircon on to cool the air down because he felt so hot, he was just staring at me and didn’t want to move. It was lasted for about 10 minutes, then he started to calm and cool down.

After talking to one of my ladies at line dance (she also one of our generous donor) I have realized, Jordie had a reaction to one of the tablets.

He’s would still oozing blood mainly when he gets up or moves. We just have to keep wiping it and try to keep on the towels and sheets that is covering our lounge and the main areas he uses.

It is day 4 now and it’s Sunday, yay! “It’s my day” he thought. Then he realized, it is till early days after the op. So we let dad go model flying by himself and mum and Jordie stayed at home. When I asked him how is he feeling, he said: " It's booriiiing. All day inside i wake up feeling good so i wanted to go for my morning walk, but mum sad I'm not allowed. I wanted to go model flying with dad but mum sad I am not allowed. I wanted to help mum hanging out washing but she said I am not allowed because I normally roll on the grass. I wanted to jump on my couch but mum said I'm not allowed it is hard to be a dog these days

In the afternoon we went for a wee walk and he managed to poop without strain, which is great! Nothing much happened really, except his bandage has started seeping through, so he is still bleeding, but we hope it is not too much now. But we will see tomorrow at the vet.

    Day 2 continue:

At 4.15pm I just could not wait any longer, so I called the vet to find out what is going on with our boy? They apologized for not calling us, but they had a hectic day, and yes, we can come and pick Jordie up. So we quickly drove down with fingers crossed and hoping they managed to fix his bleeding. I am not going to go into details about the vet service, because it is not my style, so let’s just skip this part, let’s just put it this way, we were not happy.

Anyhow, we got Jordie home with two lots of bandage on his body, one that he got in the morning at home, and another one, a pressure bandage to stop the bleeding. So basically he has been monitored with these bandages on, then we got him back with a new appointment for next day to the Whakatane clinic, and so we will see how is the bleeding tomorrow. Oh, and I got some gauze pads and bandage in case….

The good part of that day is, we got home and we all crashed in to bed early, and we were asleep around 9pm and we were sleeping until 4.29am. Here and there I heard Jordie turning around on his bed and making funny noises, but he did not touch his wound, which was a bit of a concern as we didn’t put collar on him just yet.

    Day 3

After checking on him at 4.30am, we all went back to a bit more of snooze. Then around 7am Jordie decided he had enough and he is hungry! So he pushed mum and dad to feed him and he ate all of his breakfast including his painkiller tablets that was hiding in the gravy :-D Not like he didn’t know that, he is not silly hahaha

We had a reasonably smooth morning, clearing up the sheets and towels from the floor that we put down to save our carpet from blood stain, and constantly monitoring if our boy is ok. He was looking much better and no more crying, however when he tried to go for toilet, we saw him struggling. He did try twice, but nothing. It could be because of the pressure on his tummy was pretty tight.

We took him to our appointment and as the two bandage came off, the bleeding started again, however it wasn’t as much as before, but it was still dripping to the floor . The vet didn’t look too concerned about it, and I’m afraid I don’t have any useful information to share about why is it happening, they reckon maybe a blood vessel. Anyway, we got a new bandage on, and an appointment to see the vet in Edgecumbe on Monday. And if anything happens, I still have the gauze and bandage from yesterday.

Awesome news is that Jordie is now looking good, and back to his normal always hungry self 😊

We did spent the afternoon inside, and he started to fill the air with a bit of aroma, you know what I mean hahaha I thought it is time to try to give the toilet another go, so I took him for a short walkie, and yessss! He managed! I was so proud of him! Funny how these little things makes you happy isn’t it? But these little things are the ones that gives you the confirmations that he is doing good, he’s body is functioning as it should so he is healing. Tomorrow we will go a little bit further, then next day a bit more, and soon we will be back at Zumba, no doubt.

It is 8pm now and he is snoring like normal. I think we going to have a good night :-)

We would like to thank to everybody who concerned and prayed, for the supporting calls and messages. I am very grateful for having caring family and friends with big hearts.

    Day 1

Jordie has been dropped of at the vet at 8am this morning. His op was happening today and we were thinking of him all morning. It is just after 3pm now, he is over his operation, and he is now at home. He woken up from the sedation early and he started to complain to the vet, which is not him, sometimes I wonder if he knows at all how to bark, but today he did show the vet his hidden talent of barking. so they call us around 2.30pm to come and pick him up.

Unfortunately, the main purpose of this operation, to remove his large lump wasn't successful. After opening his skin, the vet discovered that the lump grew under his muscle and it would be too invasive to cut it out. It would involve a procedure to cut into his muscle and it could cause more damage than it is now. So they called us and we had to make a decision. Based on their recommendations we decided not to risk it. Which means, they left that lump alone, and stitched up his skin.

There was a smaller lump on his back that has been removed successfully, and it has been sent to the lab for testing, we will know the result probably on Monday.

So at the moment he is just settling down, he still in pain but it seems like he is more relaxed, he just need to have dad or mum's hand on him for comfort. He has a collar that will go around his neck tomorrow morning, I am not sure he is gonna be happy about it, but I keep it in secret atm.

    Oh What a night!

Update: After my last post, the nightmare started. When Jordie fell asleep after bringing him home from the vet, we thought that is great, he will sleep and heal overnight. Well, we were wrong! He only slept about 10-15 minutes before he wake up and started fidgeting, he wanted to go for a wee we let him out to the garden for a wee, so we let him out to the garden. Of course we were keeping an eye on him . When he came back inside, we have noticed his bleeding from his passage area.. It started as a small amount, that we expected. However, later on he started to bleed extensively. Had to change covers on his bed, then we ended up using towels only for quick and easy solution. He’s cot mattress got totally ruined by the seeping through blood, we gonna need to get a new one. There was only one way to keep his bleeding under control, by keeping him laying down on his opposite side. It needed both of us to stay down on the floor with him and try to comfit him. The thunder and lightning doesn’t help, he is naturally scared of thunder, and having pain, and just getting out of dopiness and thunder is not a good mixture. We lost power because of the storm, but luckily some usb lights and candles are always an option. Just after midnight he started to pass really stinky winds and was pushing to get up, so we let him out for toilet again. By the time he came back, his whole side had blood rolling down, and it was really frightening. Les got on the phone, called the after hour vet, but no answer so he left a message. That was before 1am in the morning but we haven’t heard back from them til 7.30am. So we stayed up all night wrestling with our boy, keeping him in place and praying that his wound will seal up and his pain gets lighter. He had some period when he was breathing really fast and his tongue was hanging out on the side of his mouth. He had high fever, so I have patting him with a cold damp cloth that made a bit of difference. I am sure he felt the love we both projected towards him, but he also sensed our worry. He was fighting hard, and cuddled up to dad who was sitting on the floor at the end of the mattress, while his paw was on my head. That is how we survived this awful night. Around 5.30am our boy was started to be very strong willed again, standing up, we thought maybe another toilet need, but this time he walked to his food bowl and parked himself down, telling us that he is very hungry. Les gave him some lamb casserole from a can and a small bowl of milk. He also managed to get him wallow his painkiller tablets while I was covering his passage are with a towel, to prevent more blood dripping.

After that we went back to his bed and first time since his op, he started to really relax and so we were very happy, thinking that the worth is over now.

    Day 2

Jordie is back to the vet

So we finally got a call back from the vet around 7.30am. We explained what happened, and we have been assured, this is not normal to pass that much blood, but as the boy was comfortable on his side again, we were holding on the thoughts that he is going to be all good now. However, he got up around 9am and red blood started to coming out on his passage again. We did not left his side for a moment since we got him home, and it was terrifying to see him this way and knowing that we cannot help him. Les called the vet again and managed to get them out to our place. Jordie got bandaged up and have been taken back to the vet at 11am. We are very anxious now as we still waiting for their call to let us know what is happening.
