11 year old Josh is running a Marathon for the red-stickered kids of Muriwai
Muriwai, Auckland
Hi, I'm Josh.
I'm 11 and I go to Waimauku Primary School.
I also live in Muriwai. Because of what happened in Cyclone Gabrielle, more than 200 families had to leave their houses really quickly and haven't been allowed back because they have been red-stickered. Lots of these families have kids who don't have any of their belongings, their books or their toys and have had a really hard time these last few weeks.
I wanted to do something that could help these kids.
I have decided to run a Marathon here in Muriwai, over the course of a week and get people to sponsor me or donate to my GiveALittle Page. Then I will use the money to turn into Warehouse Gift Vouchers to give to all the primary school aged kids that have lost their toys, so they can go and buy something nice for themselves.
We are going to start on Saturday 18 March and anyone who would like to run with me and my mum is welcome to join us! Find the details at our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090777987378
I will be focusing on the kids who go to Waimauku Primary School, but if you know anyone red-stickered who goes to a different primary school in the area, please let us know and we will add them to our list.
My mum will be organising all this with Waimauku School. Her email address is: clairesmithpt@gmail.com.
Thank you for supporting me,
Josh :-)
