Journey to the 2026 International Biology Olympiad

Hi there, my name is Luan!

I am incredibly proud to say that I am one of four students from across the country selected to represent Aotearoa at the 2026 International Biology Olympiad, held in Lithuania this July. The journey up to this point has been immense, but we managed to pull through and are now on the home stretch, reaching the final barrier - costs.

The travel and attendance costs have skyrocketed this year due to the war, meaning that we are struggling a lot with fundraising, especially since I live in a single-parent household.

I am very fortunate to have received support from my school - King's High School, Dunedin, as well as my local Dunedin Harbour Rotary, however, we are still quite a ways away from the final funding goal.
