Help me represent New Zealand at the 2015 Junior World Boxing Championships in Russia

My Name is Kyle Chen and I need your help to fulfill my goal of representing New Zealand at the Junior World Boxing Championships, in St. Petersburg, Russia, 2~13 September 2015

I have recently been selected into the New Zealand Junior Boxing Team to compete in the 66kg division at the Junior World Boxing Championships, in St. Petersburg, Russia, 2~13 September 2015. The athlete trip contribution is $6000 therefore this is my target.

For me, making the junior team was the culmination of 3 years of training and competing in tournaments throughout New Zealand.

I am a fourteen year old Year 10 student at Kerikeri High School, in the Bay of Islands. I first became involved with boxing as a way to keep fit for rugby, but soon came to really enjoy it. During the 2013 rugby season I told my Dad I'd like compete in a boxing tournament. Dad said OK, so after that my boxing training moved from mostly fitness training toward preparation for boxing competitively.

I entered my first boxing tournament at the North Island Novice Championships, in Rotorua in August 2013, where, after two bouts, I won first place in the Cadet 57kg division.

My acheivements in amateur Olympic-style boxing to date include:

Winner: 2014 North Island Novice Championships, 63kg Male Cadet

Winner: 2014 North Island Golden Gloves, 63kg Male Cadet Open

Winner: 2014 Central North Island Championships, 63kg Male Cadet Open

Winner: 2014 Auckland Boxing Association Championships, 63kg Male Cadet Open

Winner: 2014 New Zealand National Boxing Championships, 63kg Male Cadet Open

Winner: 2015 North Island Golden Gloves, 66kg Male Junior Open

Selected: NZ Representitive to Junior World Boxing Championships 2015

My competitive nature and love of boxing drives me to give it my all every training, to push beyond my limits and to be the best that I can be.

I can think of nothing I would rather do than stand on the podium in Russia, knowing that I have done my country and my family and friends proud.
