4 October 2022I just want to take a moment (with a tear in my eye) and express how amazing it has been to witness the love and support, the words and the connections I've been able to witness through 'monitoring' this page. You all are amazing and it's amazing you've taken the time to swing by this site and share your offerings. Okay okay, enough about you and me. Here is a little update about Justin, Jola, Piko and their home.
Work has begun. Which is no surprise really. These capable creatures are making the most of life and rebuilding their home. All while also receiving so much love and support from people close and afar. The love is coming from people they see most weeks, from people they haven't heard from in years and from people who live on the other side of the world. This is such a gift. Yes, there are moments of deep sadness, but they are making the most of this situation and continuing their journey.
The first week after the fire, Justin went through a daily process of realising the truck was in worse shape than he realised the day before. There are going to be some tricky parts to fix, but it is doable..., especially by Justin.
Justin, Jola and Piko have set up a lovely 'camp' on their spot next to their house truck with tents and caravans provided by friends. It's cosy and it's where they want to be. All three are in good spirits.
Thank you to everyone who came by and helped clean up. Thanks to everyone who did a load of laundry and brought a meal. Thanks to everyone who's lent gear and supplies. Thank you to those who have come by this site and made a donation. As you can see, every little bit adds up and makes a difference. The page will close on Thursday night. Thank you thank you thank you!
PS Jola and Justin come to this site to read your messages and soak up the love but they are unable to comment on the page or edit anything. This is why I (Brooke) am writing the little update.
Love,
Brooke
