Today, the adorable Jenga and Bingo enjoyed an exciting adventure with us through K9 Rescue Retreat. Experiencing the beach for the first time, they had so much fun rolling, digging, and playing in the sand, as well as splashing joyfully in the water. Thye finished their adventure with a pupper beer, ice cream and cake (all pupper safe and homemade)

These cheerful little pups are now waiting for their forever homes at the Nelson SPCA.

Thanks to those who donated to the cause, it means shelter dogs like these get to have a special experience.

The lovely Zoey enjoyed some time at the K9 Retreat yesterday. She is currently at the Tasman dog pound and deserved a fun time out. She wasn't so keen on the pool, so she got to spend time, playing with toys, getting treats and lots of attention and generally just having fun with her adventure. She very much enjoyed the dog beer and got to go back with a bag of treats to share with the other dogs at the pound. Thank you to those who have donated, so that we can give sogs like Zoey a new and fun experience.

She has been at the Tasman pound for a wee while and is really hoping her new home will come soon. She had a great adventure out with plenty of attention, fun and treats. She finished the day with a dog beer and a pupper friendly truffle. She was pretty happy. Oh my goodness what adorable pups. These two came through our K9 Retreat last week and had a ball. They loved to play and have cuddles and they were very confident in the water. Hopefully they will be able to continue swimming with their new guardians once they get adopted. They finished the day with a pupper beer and a doggie truffle. Safe to say they had a great time. Kip is such a lovely boy. He joined us on Friday for the K9 Rescue Retreat. Kip started with a lovely walk in the park and then headed to the pool. He decided the pool wasn't for him, so instead he got lots of attention, play time, treats and a good brush down, which he loved. He enjoyed playing with toys and all the attention he got. He finished his adventure with a dog safe banana, peanut butter, coconut raspberry truffle. He said woof woof that was good. Kip is available for adoption at the Nelson SPCA. Thanks to your donations to make this possible for shelter dogs like Kip. Check out the photo gallery for more pupper photos

We were thrilled to have Vera back at the K9 Rescue Retreat yesterday. She’s currently at the Nelson SPCA and on a weight loss journey. Such a sweet dog, and she’s doing great! Spending time at MaxieMim Performance in the pool doing non-weight-bearing exercises is helping her on that journey. Vera is a strong swimmer, and with the support of the swim coaches, she’s making excellent progress. To top off the day, she enjoyed a low-fat Pupperlatte—safe to say she loved it! even if she was wearing some of it by the end.

Please share out our Givealittle page so that we can collect some more donations to help puppers like Vera. If you are able to give a little something that would also be appreciated.

On Friday 16th we had the pleasure of meeting Albie who is currently at the Nelson SPCA. A little shy and unsure of things at the start but once the toys arrived, he became a different dog. He LOVES toys. Then it was time to try some water play, he had some time in the water preferring to be held in the swim coaches arms and carried around rather than swim himself. A few more lessons and he will probably be a great swimmer. He was very happy playing around the pool retrieving toys from the water and even scuba diving for them. We think he would win a bobbing for apples competition paws down. Finally, he finished the day with a pamper session, a nice warm wash down with shampoo and conditioning treatment and a pupper ice cream. Banana peanut butter raspberry ripple topped with salmon sprinkles and a beef chip (all pupper safe). Then back to the shelter to brag to his friends about what a cool time he had.

Last week we put a pupper through the K9 retreat but couldn't show you videos or photos. We have now been given consent to do so. What a sweet girl Vera is. She won us all over and melted our hearts. Vera needs to lose a little weight, so swimming is a great non weight baring exercise to help her with this. Thank you to those who have donated, this helps pups like Vera to have an adventure away from the shelter.

We were thrilled to send our first shelter pup to the 2026 K9 Retreat. While we can’t share photos for privacy reasons, we can happily say they had an incredible time. After a short walk pupper enjoyed hanging out with everyone, swimming around in the pool which would have been nice on such a hot day and afterward indulging in a special pup sundae which was banana peanut butter raspberry ripple, topped with salmon sprinkles and a barkscotti and of course plenty of belly rubs, all graciously accepted. Such a sweet pup and it was lovely to be able to give them time away from the shelter to enjoy a special moment just for them.
