Kate's Courtyard

Help us create the perfect courtyard for Kate and their two young boys and complete a project that Harry sadly never got round to starting.

Hawke's Bay

In late September 2020 we lost Harry, a true legend of a man who was tragically killed in a farming accident.

Not only did Harry leave a farm which he loved and a vast amount of friends scattered all over the world he also left his beautiful wife Kate and his two young boys Archie and Patch, whom he wholeheartedly adored.

This is a project a few of us have been working on to help brighten up the days for Kate and the boys. Harry spoke at length about wanting to fix up the courtyard of the family home but once the boys were born and demands of the farm took hold this project slipped further down the priority list. We thought now is the time to fulfill Harrys wish and give Kate her dream courtyard. Something to provide a space where the kids can play, an area where she can entertain guests and grow her own edible garden as she loves to cook.

Under Kates guidance we have worked with a landscape architect, a draftsmen and builders to come up with a courtyard concept and overall project cost. Now we just need to turn this dream into a reality, which is where we need your help.

The money raised will be put towards the entire project, which involves levelling the site, diverting underground services, labour for building and landscaping work, total materials and initial prep work. Anything left over will go towards an outdoor fireplace and anything left over after that will go straight to Kate, Archie and Patch.

Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting Harry would understand the values he placed on his family and friends. He would always make time for others regardless of what he had going on in his own life. This is a way of giving back to Harry by providing a space for his friends to spend more time with his family, for his kids to play in and his wife to enjoy, entertain and produce from. I know he would be so chuffed to see this area completed, I just wish we did this a year ago when he could see it and we could enjoy it with him.

It's not hard to picture Harry parked up on the new courtyard deck, beer in one hand, tongs in the other, rolling half a dozen black burnt sausies around the grill while deep in the throws of a very tall tale.

Although Harry sadly won't be around to enjoy the space his young family certainly will which is the next best thing. Kate is blown away by even the thought of something like this being created for her, so please help us and lets make it happen.

It goes without saying that all donations big or small are HUGELY appreciated by all involved. If you would like the courtyard plans emailed through please let me know and if you would like to assist in anyway with the build i'd love to hear from you.

PS - On another note and a little added benefit, if we hit our target Duke Chambers has said he will run the Auckland marathon in his undies.
