    Kauri Pod is a New Zealand–led startup developing a portable emergency sleeping capsule designed for campers, trekkers, and emergency outdoor situations.

    Kauri Pod converts from a backpack into a single-person protective capsule, providing temporary shelter along with integrated solar USB charging for essential devices. Our aim is to create a practical, durable product that serves outdoor users while also supporting those facing hardship.

    We are preparing to launch our official Presale Website, where members of the public will be able to secure a Kauri Pod from our first production run. Presales will help fund final prototype refinement, compliance and safety testing, and initial manufacturing setup required to responsibly bring the product to market.

    Kauri Pod also includes a social commitment. For every 10 units sold through our presale, we will sponsor 1 Kauri Pod for a homeless or rough sleeper in New Zealand through appropriate distribution channels.

    Funds raised through this Givealittle campaign will support development milestones and the launch of our presale platform. We are committed to transparency and will provide updates as progress is made.

    Kauri Pod is a practical, human-first response to rough sleeping and extreme housing insecurity in Aotearoa New Zealand.

    Behind every person sleeping rough is a full life that didn’t fail it simply ran out of options. Kauri Pod exists to create a pause in that moment of crisis: a secure, weather-proof sleeping capsule that restores safety, dignity, and a sense of personal space for people with nowhere else to go.

    This initiative began in late 2025 after witnessing firsthand how quickly people fall through the cracks not because of poor choices, but because of systems under strain. Kauri Pod is not a shelter replacement and not a short-term fix. It is an emergency bridge a calm, protected place where someone can rest, reset, and reconnect with support services.

    We urgently need your help to move Kauri Pod from concept to reality.

    Funds raised through this Givealittle campaign will be used exclusively for research and development, including design engineering, material testing, safety considerations, and the creation of a working prototype. This prototype is essential to secure approvals, partnerships, and future funding to scale responsibly.
