Let’s come together as a community to raise money for our very own basketball court at the Ngunguru Sports Complex.

Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in New Zealand. Its simple set up makes it very accessible for anyone to play- you don’t need to be an NBA star to join in on the fun!

The Tutukaka Coast has long been in need of a basketball court for our community to enjoy and the Ngunguru Basketball Committee is working to make this a reality. The court will be a space to bring people of all ages and skill levels together through informal recreation, skill development and organised basketball activities.

The half-court will be located at the Ngunguru Sports Complex and available for community use. Plans have been approved by the Whangarei District Council, Ngunguru Sports & Recreation Club and the Tutukaka Ratepayers & Residents Association.

The total project cost is approximately $56,000. We have applied for local grants to help cover expenses and received funding for the hoop thanks to BNZ Hoops in Parks and Basketball NZ, but we will also need the support of the coastal community to complete the project.

No donation is too small! Every dollar is one step closer to bringing basketball to the coast and having the chance to leave a lasting impact on our community.

Use of funds

Funds raised will be used towards the building of the basketball court. Construction includes excavation of topsoil, subsoil drains, base preparation, concrete surface, pole installation, line marking and ball fence.
