Kickin' It for Fraser's Goal!

  • A Win for Perseverance and Character

Fraser's soccer tournament wrapped up today, and what a fantastic effort from the whole team. Huge thanks to everyone who supported Fraser with this opportunity. Despite being under the weather with what may likely be flu (again!), he played his heart — and lungs — out, leaving absolutely nothing in the tank. Relentlessly chasing down strong right-hand strikers, he stuck with them, tied them up, and helped slow the game when his teammates needed time to regroup.

It was a tough three days — one win, one draw, and five losses — with the team battling through illness, injuries, and testing conditions. Yet they stayed positive and focused throughout, regardless of the scorelines or the less-than-sportsmanlike behaviour from some opposing teams. Up against much larger and better-resourced South Island clubs, our boys held their own with grit, determination, and a team spirit that made us beam with pride.

Watching them improve, support one another, and grow stronger as a unit was a real joy. We’ll 110% take our team’s relentlessly positive, fair-play approach to the game over the win-at-all-costs mentality — handballs, shoves, trip-ups and all — that we saw far too often from the opposing sides.

Well done, Fraser — you were truly awesome.

  • All In from the First Whistle!

      22 September 2025

The tournament kicked off under misty skies, but the day quickly changed to warm sunshine, setting the stage for an exciting day. The team was buzzing with energy and played three impressive matches against tough opponents. The first game ended in a 1:1 draw, where they dominated possession but were unlucky with a few key bounces. In the second match, a 1:3 loss didn’t truly reflect the flow of play, as they again controlled a lot of the game. The day finished on a high with a commanding 5:1 win over a physical side more focused on the player than the ball. Fraser's team kept their composure, played their style, and showed great resilience and positional strength. A fantastic first day on the pitch—bring on tomorrow!

  • Fraser Shines Bright at Club Prizegiving

With only a few days now until the tournament begins, the regular junior soccer season wrapped up with the club prize giving last weekend. Despite missing the last two games due to illness, Fraser finished the season on an absolute high. To his surprise, he was recognised alongside only a few others with a 2025 Club Spirit Award. The award celebrates those who consistently display the club’s core values throughout the season: respect, whānau (family), aspire, fun, and commitment. In their nomination, coaches Pete and Andrew, and trainer Dave reflected that "Fraser can always be relied upon to give his best, he is great to coach and a great teammate." In other words, a pretty nice human being if you ask his mum!

Such a great boost ahead of what promises to be some tough competition at the tournament. Fraser is so fortunate to be surrounded and supported by a great community - thank you all!

  • T-minus two weeks!

It’s less than two weeks until Fraser heads to Nelson for his soccer tournament; excitement is building and practices have ramped up. Tomorrow he’ll play his first warm up game with the full squad.

Thanks to everyone for your support in the lead up to this opportunity. It’s been a tough past few weeks for Fraser with back to back illnesses and it’s helped him knowing you’re all on the sideline cheering him on.

Last month he ran the school cross country with a head cold and still managed to finish 6th boy for his year, advancing to Otago Regional Champs. Unfortunately he got sick again, this time with the flu and was home for 10 days. Physically he was too unwell to race unfortunately, so wasn’t able to test whether he’d improved from last year’s result. Being sick, he also missed the last few weeks of the regular soccer season, but did manage to fill in for a year 14/15 team, gaining valuable ‘tough’ experience.

All going well we have seen the last of the winter illnesses and Fraser can instead focus on thriving at the tournament with his team!

  • No Fear, All Hustle

      19 August 2025

Fraser filled in for Aston’s soccer team the other weekend—easily the smallest and youngest player on the field by at least two years. But he held his own, covered plenty of ground, and made his presence felt. Every bit of extra practice counts, with only five weeks to go until Nelson. Thanks everyone for supporting his goals!

  • GOAL! 10km race smashed

Crushed the 10K race in record time — even with freezing fingers at the start line! 5th in my 12-19 year age class; not bad for an 11 year old! Shhh, don't tell the organisers. Fiordland was awesome with perfect sunny weather, crisp air, and breathtaking views of snowcapped mountains and Lake Ta Anau. Running like a rocket from the start, there was no holding me back. Best part? I crushed Mum’s time too — sorry, Mum! A race to remember for sure!

Thanks for helping me chase my goals — Life is Fun!!
