Masterton, Wellington

For more than 26 years, Kids Own Playground in Queen Elizabeth Park, Masterton has been a treasured place for children, families and visitors from all over Wairarapa and New Zealand to gather, play and create lasting memories. Opened in 1999 after an incredible community effort, the playground has served our community brilliantly but is now ready for renewal.

In partnership with Masterton District Council, the Rotary Club of Masterton South is raising funds to build a modern, safe and inclusive playground that will inspire future generations. Every donation, large or small, will help bring this exciting community project to life. All donations over $100.00 will be permanently recognised with names on a wall.

Redevelopment will retain elements of the original playground while creating a modern, accessible play space that will:

• Encourage creativity, adventure, and active play

• Be accessible for children of all abilities

• Serve as a destination for families across the region and the country

Local community consultation saw us receive over 850 responses from children and parents about what should be included in the new design, and we will work with a ‘design and build’ contractor to ensure most of these ideas are brought to life.

Council is contributing $1.5 million towards the design and build of the playground. This will provide the foundation for delivering a high-quality new play space for Masterton. Additional funds will enhance the project as outlined below.
