Kilimanjaro for Cricket

  • Made it!

      9 March 2024

Well that was tough - up and down. Not something I'd say you enjoy. You experience it rather than enjoy it I think. On to the Serengeti now for some r&r but feel free to pass the word - we need your support to help these young cricketers. Thank you.

  • Update

      30 January 2024

A quick update. Firstly, thank you for your donation. It has helped get the ball rolling and created a bit of noise so I can go out and get a lot more donations before I close the page down (not until June I think).

Secondly, training is going well. Dave and I are on fire. Could be different above 5,000 metres but we'll see - "pole, pole"as they say in swahili - "slowly, slowly".

Thirdly, anyone involved in sport will know how important it is to encourage young talent. As Chairman of Otago Cricket I really feel that responsibility that we have to NZ Cricket and to our own cricket community down south to nurture what we've got. Its a professional environment now so its different to the old days. We will need to recruit to fill some spots so that we can be competitive. And we want our imports to feel at home be a big part of what we do here. But we need to always be aware of our responsibility to make sure our own talent comes through as well.

    Thats what this is about.
